Summer plans

With the British Summer time officially here, thoughts turn to holidays and day trips. We recently made the most of the sunshine with a visit to Mrs Chill’s ice cream parlour down by the riverside.

For residents who cannot venture out, we are bringing the travel to them, with Armchair Travel theme days for different countries. Sampling the different foods and learning more about each country with a quiz. Everyone loves a quiz on our OM Interactive Projector. Our next stop in July is France.

We had a teddy bear’s picnic with great food, great company and a little tipple of Bailey’s to top it all off. Residents spent the morning before crafting some bunting and headbands to decorate for the picnic.
We had a visit from The Gospelites Choir to sing for residents and Creative Mojo helped residents with a Beatles inspired art workshop; yellow submarine craft and creating underwater scenes. We also danced away a morning with live music from the JDR trio and spent the afternoon with the lovely children from Debutots and St Anne’s Primary School and Nursery.

Our Summer Fayre

Get your cowboy boots out, Summerdyne is bringing the Wild West to Bewdley with our 2024 Summer Fayre. We are fundraising for our Residents’ Fund.

  • If you have a small business and would like to register interest for a stall at the Fayre please get in touch.
  • We are currently accepting donations for our tombola. If you have any unopened bottles, toiletries etc please drop them off at Summerdyne Nursing Home.
  • Our raffle tickets are now on sale. For just £1 a strip you can help raise money for our home and have a chance at winning cinema tickets, paintballing vouchers, tickets for West Midlands Safari Park and more!

In other fundraising news, team Summerdyne took on the Snowdon Sunrise Challenge. They wanted to raise money for the National Activity Providers Association’s Living the Dream fund. Dave, Rachel, Sam and Paula made it to the top of Snowdon at 5.30am. Unfortunately it was too misty to see the sunrise and freezing at the summit. BUT, we are so proud that they conquered Snowdon.  Thank you to everyone for your support. You can still donate at https://www.justgiving.com/page/paula-lees-1711368634789

Summer revamp

We have been spending the last few months transforming our conservatory into a 1940/50s reminiscence room: With fresh wallpaper, a new sofa and a slightly out of tune piano, it’s all starting to come together!  But, we are still on the lookout for any 40/50s donations to tie everything together as well as someone to come and tune our piano so that we can play it again. Please email if you can help at all.
