Creativity unleashed!

Residents have been enjoying lots of activities where their creativity and self expression has been unleashed!

Creativity through art and craft

This September we celebrated National Art in Care Homes Day. It was lovely to have a visit from Mike from the National Activity Providers Association. We spent the morning on a trip down memory lane, looking back at all of the art we had created throughout the year. In the afternoon, we unleashed our inner artists and get stuck into some new projects.

With Halloween approaching, it’s a great time for some spooky craft. This year we are making suncatchers and plush dolls. Also, a chance for more creativity is our Summerdyne Pumpkin Carving Competition. Back for another year by popular demand! Everyone can enter. All you have to do is carve a pumpkin and hand it in at the home between the 22nd & 30th October. Our residents will be the judges and there are prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd place.

Creativity with music and story telling

For something new, we welcomed an interactive storyteller to our home. The residents thoroughly enjoyed bringing stories to life and were truly captivated.

We have also brought music and song into our home. Corinne and Stephen from the English Symphony Orchestra visited to play for our residents. We enjoyed a fantastic morning dancing with JDR and the wonderful Glam Sparrow also visited. Both bands so great for singing along and dancing and so uplifting.

Coming up ….

We started our ‘Summerdyne Travels the World’ adventure with our first stop being Italy. We enjoyed face paint, Italian food, drinks & trivia. Then we ended our travels by sending postcards to our loved ones telling them all about it. Where next?! This is a monthly theme day so maybe we will go to the North Pole in December or some European Christmas markets!

It’s official… the Summerdyne Christmas Fair is returning for another year! It may only be October but we’re looking for stalls to participate, as well as asking for donations for our raffle & tombola.
